The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 is central to who we are at Central Columbus Church of Christ. As Christians we cannot keep the wonderful message of the Father's love to ourselves; we must do everything we can to share it with others. To this end, Central Columbus Church of Christ endeavors toward evangelism in three exciting ways. First, we provide evangelistic training for our members. Secondly, our minister emphasizes the importance of evangelism from the pulpit. He communicates to members and guests on a regular basis the reality that reaching out to the lost is not optional; it is required and expected. Thirdly, Central Columbus Church of Christ members reach out to our community, both individually and as a group, with Christ's saving message and acts of service.
This area of service has the purpose of attending to the needs of the needy in the Church as well as in the community at large. This mission is accomplished by providing assistance in clothing, food, and other necessary assistance after a careful and prayerful assessment of each individual case. We, as the Lord's servants, must be willing to help when we can, while utilizing the wisdom that God gives in all situations. This area exemplifies Christian love in action. In addition, this area will assist with the passing out of commodities for our monthly food program.
We are committed to use the Bible to instruct believers in order to promote spiritual growth and transformation of character so that their lives depict true followers of Christ. Our in-depth Bible studies on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening aim at giving believers healthy doctrine of Christ to enable individual Christians grow in the full knowledge of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Biweekly prayer nights are designed to support the weak, the sick, and the needy through prayers. Believers are also encouraged to develop regular individual prayer and study habits. We encourage brethren to live holy lives since no one can see God without holiness. "Be Holy as I am Holy" (1 Peter 1:16).
